The Documentation Centre of the Canary Islands and America (CEDOCAM), located in La Laguna, presents its new monograph entitled “Churches, Temples, Convents and Hermitages of the Canary Islands”. The necessary spaces for the establishment of the new Christian religion in the archipelago began to be built in the 15th century.
Initially, these were small temples with a single room. Later, towards the 18th century, an evolution in the construction of temples can be observed. Depending on their size and function, there are different types of religious spaces: chapels, hermitages, churches, and convents.
In this monograph, you will find a selection of bibliographic and documentary materials (monographs, articles, pamphlets…) as well as websites and videos on this fascinating subject.
