This Friday, 18th July, the Canary Islands will once again be in the spotlight of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), which has issued warnings for high temperatures and very strong gusts of wind.
Thermometers could reach 37 ºC in the Tirajana basin, in Gran Canaria, and 34 ºC in the midlands of eastern Tenerife.
Additionally, northeast winds with very strong gusts are expected overnight, particularly in the summits and midlands of southern Gran Canaria, La Gomera, El Hierro, and Lanzarote.
Clear skies and haze
The day will be marked by clear skies, with some cloudy intervals at sunset in the north. Haze at altitude is expected, which will dissipate by the afternoon.
Although a widespread drop in temperatures is forecast, the heat will remain intense in many areas of the archipelago.
Gran Canaria
Up to 37 ºC in the midlands of the south. Strong winds in the summits and southern slopes, with gusts of up to 90 km/h.

Tenerife
Probable 34 ºC in the east. Winds with very strong gusts in the southeast and northwest slopes.
Temperatures: 23 ºC min. / 30 ºC max.
Lanzarote
Warning for wind in inland areas of the southeast, especially early in the morning.
Temperatures: 21 ºC min. / 29 ºC max.
Fuerteventura
Up to 32 ºC in the southeast. Winds with very strong gusts in Jandía.
Temperatures: 22 ºC min. / 30 ºC max.
La Gomera
Possible 33 ºC in the south. Very strong winds in the summits and southern slopes.
Temperatures: 23 ºC min. / 28 ºC max.
La Palma
Up to 33 ºC in the south and west. Winds with possible very strong gusts in El Paso.
Temperatures: 23 ºC min. / 26 ºC max.
El Hierro
Intense heat in the south, with temperatures reaching 33 ºC.
Very strong gusts of wind in the west.
Temperatures: 23 ºC min. / 26 ºC max.
