The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has announced this Thursday that the Las Mesas park has been closed as part of the Insular Emergency Plan of Tenerife (PEIN), activated by the Tenerife Cabildo in response to the alert for high temperatures and the risk of wildfires.
The municipal corporation reminds that the Tenerife Cabildo prohibits access to the forest tracks and paths and recreational areas due to the wildfire risk, which is why Las Mesas park has been closed.
This measure joins existing regulations prohibiting fires in recreational and outdoor areas, as well as the use of any machinery or tools that could produce sparks (strimmers, welding equipment, spark-generating machines, or cutting saws) and the use of any pyrotechnic material in risk areas.
Additionally, smoking is prohibited in recreational areas, camping zones, campsites, tracks and paths, viewpoints, and other public facilities located in the mountains.
