A Santa Cruz resident films a group of youths engaged in vandalism: “They’re wrecking the area and shouting.”

A resident of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has shared a video with this newspaper, recorded during the early hours of Thursday. In it, a group of young people can be seen taking down fences from the construction work located on the Rambla de Santa Cruz, near the monument to Franco, where tree cutting and urban renovation are taking place.

As the woman explained, it all started with a man in a blue shirt who was the one who “removed the first fences“. At that moment, “he crossed paths with a group of young people who encouraged him and spoke to him“. From there, as seen in the video, the youths joined in the action, “shouting” and continuing to remove the fences.

The video shows how, particularly one of them, throws the mobile barriers installed for the improvement work onto the ground, which could be considered a new act of vandalism affecting the capital.
