The festival committees of the coastal areas of El Rosario will organise various activities over the coming days
The coastal areas of El Rosario, Bocacangrejo, Varadero, and Radazul are preparing to celebrate the festivities in honour of Our Lady of Carmen with a variety of activities for the whole family. The festival committee in Bocacangrejo has been the earliest to kick off and already held its qualifying round of the traditional fishing competition on Saturday, 12th July.
From then on, other classic events in the village will follow, such as the football match between singles and married couples, tea and chocolate afternoons, open-air summer cinema, and competitions for cards, bocce, swimming, and desserts and omelettes. On Saturday, 19th, at 20:00, there will be a mass and procession, concluding the day with a dance featuring the bands Columbia and Maracaibo. Sunday, 20th will mark the end of the festivities with a grand paella, children’s activities, and the awarding of trophies for the various competitions.
In Varadero, on Wednesday, 16th July, a tortilla competition will take place, and on Thursday, 17th, there will be a children’s gala starting at 21:00. Events will continue on Friday, 18th with children’s games and a mass sung by the Folk Group “Friends of La Esperanza” at 19:30, a toast among neighbours, and a dance featuring the Group Reve from 23:00 onwards. All events will be held in the San Pablo square of this area.
Saturday, 19th will be the main day of the Carmen festivities. Varadero will host various engaging activities as part of the “El Rosario Sostenible” project from 12:00, the procession at 19:00, and a dance with the Group Seis de Seis starting at 23:00. On Sunday, 20th, there will be a closing dance at 16:00, featuring soloist David Pérez.
Finally, in Radazul, the events will be concentrated on Saturday, 19th July, with a Eucharist in honour of the Virgen del Carmen, scheduled for 18:00, followed by the traditional maritime procession.
