A 48-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman, both of Belgian origin, were rescued by emergency services after suffering from exhaustion while walking on a path in the Anaga massif in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, according to the 1-1-2 Emergency and Security Coordination Centre of the Canary Islands.
The events occurred on Thursday afternoon when the 1-1-2 received an alert explaining that a group of eight hikers was on a path in the Anaga massif and could not continue their journey because two of them were experiencing health issues due to the heat and fatigue.
Tenerife Firefighters and the Natural Environment Unit (UMEN) of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council located the hikers in collaboration with the Local Police and their drone unit, along with Civil Protection.
A team from the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) helicopter carried out the rescue of the two individuals with health problems and evacuated them to the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where staff from an ambulance from the Canary Emergency Service (SUC) confirmed that the two individuals were experiencing health issues related to fatigue and exhaustion. They were then transferred to the Anaga health centre.

As for the other six hikers, who were in good condition, they were escorted by the firefighters and emergency services to the trail exit.
Additionally, the resolution of the incidents involved the efforts of Environmental officials, as well as agents from the National Police and Ports Police.
