Maritime Rescue and the Civil Guard have rescued the two crew members of a vessel that ran aground at Roque Bermejo, on the northern coast of the capital of Tenerife, according to the Emergency and Security Coordinating Centre 1-1-2 of the Canary Islands.

The events occurred at midday on Wednesday, when the 1-1-2 of the Government of the Canary Islands received an alert from CECOPAL Santa Cruz de Tenerife, reporting that a vessel close to the coast with two people on board had run aground and required assistance.

Subsequently, the 1-1-2 activated the Maritime Rescue helicopter Helimer, which was dispatched to the area, located the vessel, and rescued one of the crew members, a 70-year-old man who was injured. He was evacuated to Tenerife North Airport, where staff from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) checked him for moderate trauma to his lower limb and transferred him to the University Hospital Nuestra Señora de Candelaria.

The Civil Guard carried out the rescue of the second crew member, who was unharmed, and took him to the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
