Network that stole cash delivery vans in Tenerife taken down

Agents of the National Police have dismantled a criminal organisation dedicated to the theft of cash delivery vans operating on the island of Tenerife.

The investigation began following a call to 091 from a worker reporting that, while leaving an industrial estate in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, two men on a motorcycle had assaulted him and forced him to hand over the cash he was carrying in his van, totalling 113,500 euros.

Following a thorough investigation, the robbery was clarified, identifying a group consisting of six individuals with a clear division of tasks.

Their aim was to acquire money from the vans by robbing drivers with violence and intimidation, thus securing the loot to be distributed among the group members, according to a statement from the National Police.

Subsequently, two searches were conducted at residences, leading to the arrest of all six members of the criminal group. A total of 55,975 euros was recovered, along with valuable items acquired by the alleged perpetrators, a consignment of controlled substances, and three vehicles related to the criminal activity.

Of the six individuals arrested, two have already been remanded in custody.
