This week’s “Tidbit” from the Centre for Documentation of the Canary Islands and America (CEDOCAM) located in La Laguna is dedicated to Alicia Navarro, a woman who made history by becoming the first Spanish woman to win the title of Miss Europe in the city of London, where she was crowned by actor Ralph Lynn on 7th July.
Alicia Navarro was born in Tenerife in 1915. She was elected Miss Spain on 5th May 1935 in a contest held at the Teatro de la Zarzuela.
Her victory was a significant moment in the world of beauty contests, as she showcased her elegance and talent on an international stage. With her win, Alicia proudly represented her country, particularly the Canary Islands. She passed away in France in 1995.
We present a beautiful postcard of Alicia Navarro, which belongs to the Francisco Negrín Ponte collection donated to CEDOCAM.
