Officers from the Tenerife Fire Brigade Consortium took part this Friday in a new session of the 2025 Fire Prevention Week, held in Los Realejos.
This activity concludes a semester focused on raising awareness among the island’s population about the risks associated with fire and promoting self-protection practices, with the initiative expected to resume in September.
The president of the Consortium, Iván Martín, emphasises that these meetings have enabled training for new generations, teaching them responsible habits in emergency situations and encouraging them to become prevention agents within their environment. “We take prevention very seriously because we believe it is the best tool to minimise the number of home fires,” he stresses.
The event took place as part of the XV Security and Emergency Days of Los Realejos and gathered 500 students from the schools Pureza de María and Nazaret, CEO La Pared, and the CEIP Agustín Espinosa, La Montañeta, Mencey Bentor, and San Sebastián.
Additionally, during the afternoon, activities were offered for the general public, including practical demonstrations on using extinguishers and hoses, informational talks, and evacuation drills for house fires.

The mayor of Los Realejos, Adolfo González, along with the Councillor for Safety and Emergencies, Carolina Toste, highlighted “the quantitative and qualitative approach and boost from the Cabildo of Tenerife, its General Directorate of Safety and Emergencies, and the Consortium of Island Firefighters in terms of providing material resources and personnel for fire prevention and fighting, a matter in which they have the open hand and commitment of the Los Realejos Town Council, with our resources at their disposal, in the necessary task of coordinating all administrations for this common cause.”
The sessions included participation from officers of the Local Police, Civil Protection, Red Cross, Brifor, Civil Guard and National Police, among other bodies, and were made possible thanks to the Cabildo of Tenerife, MAPFRE Foundation, and the Professional Association of Fire Technicians (APTB).
The Fire Prevention Week 2025 will continue in September, on 19 and 24, in Santa Cruz and Garachico, respectively.
