Thousands of People Pack Madrid’s Plaza de España

Attendees at the rally called by the PP against the Government in Plaza de España, Madrid, on 8 June 2025 – EUROPA PRESS

MADRID 8 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Thousands of people packed Plaza de España in Madrid this Sunday for a demonstration organised by the PP against the “degradation” of Pedro Sánchez’s Government under the slogan ‘Mafia or Democracy’.

The attendees, invigorated like in other PP rallies by DJ Pulpo, carried Spanish flags and umbrellas, and only a few isolated flags with the PP’s initials were seen, following Alberto Núñez Feijóo’s instructions not to bring Popular Party symbols to attract voters from other parties like PP and Vox.

Feijóo was supported by the autonomous and regional presidents of the Popular Party, as well as former prime ministers Mariano Rajoy and José María Aznar. Amongst the crowd was also former president of the Generalitat Francisco Camps.

The attendees carried banners with slogans such as ‘Yes to Democracy, No to Mafia’, ‘Neither Mafia nor “Sanchocracy”, we want Democracy’, ‘United for a Better Spain’ or ‘Let Gepetto Vote for You’, among others. Additionally, DJ Pulpo entertained the crowd with his music and criticised the “lies” of Pedro Sánchez’s Government which, according to him, “embarrass everyone”.

In recent days, the PP leader has called to fill Plaza de España in Madrid this 8th June by appealing to Spaniards “fed up with so much corruption, infamy, and lies”. “Sánchez is unnecessary, we need to free Spain from this embarrassment”, he said this Saturday in Santander, where he promised to conduct a “total cleaning” of the institutions if he reaches Moncloa.
