The Los Realejos Council unanimously approved a partial modification of the General Planning Plan related to the uses of the plot where the town hall plans to build the municipal pool and sports complex. This procedure, driven by the Municipal Urban Planning Management, is the necessary step to tender the execution of this much-needed infrastructure for 8,195,562 euros.
The first phase will consist of building the new pool with three tanks for training, rehabilitation or therapeutic, and initiation. Once this phase is completed, the current aquatic activity will move to this part of the new infrastructure, converting the current pool into the dry sports area of the complex, which will house a gym and training rooms, cafeteria, other multipurpose uses, and complementary services.
The mayor of Los Realejos, Adolfo González, thanked the Cabildo of Tenerife for “understanding the priority of this project and its contribution to the economic effort to develop it, as well as all the municipal technical staff involved in each previous step to undertake such a large infrastructure.” In this regard, he recalled that it has required urban planning studies, economic feasibility, uses, basic project, drafting of the final project, complementary geotechnical studies, and the partial planning modification. The mayor pointed out “intense negotiations with the mentioned island administration or those we are trying to reach with the Government of the Canary Islands” in order to start the work “in the second semester” of this year.
About the current plot
The councilor of Urban Planning, Noelia González, argued that the execution of the new pool and sports complex “has been projected over the entire surface of the plot located behind the current pool,” which required the specific modification of the PGO approved by the Council. “It is there where the first phase of construction work would start, as well as on the current infrastructure’s surface, which is where the second phase will take place.”
The basic project for the new pool and sports complex of Los Realejos was drafted by 2RAEstudio Engineering and Architecture led by the architect Pablo Cionfrini-Lezzi, while the execution project was drafted by the UTE Realejos Bonilla González of architects José María González Ibáñez and Germán Bonilla Montijano. n
