A man died this Saturday while paragliding when he fell into the water at the natural pools of Puerto de la Cruz, in the north of Tenerife.
The 1-1-2 Emergency Coordination Center reported that at 15.28 hours, a lifeguard alerted them of the paraglider’s fall into the water.
The first to arrive at the scene were Local Police officers, followed by firefighters, who performed rescue maneuvers on the individual while a rescue helicopter from the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) of the Government of the Canary Islands arrived.
The paraglider was transported by the GES to the esplanade of the Puerto de la Cruz dock, where medical personnel continued with basic and advanced resuscitation maneuvers without success.
Maritime Rescue arrived with a jet ski to try to remove the paraglider, but the canopy ultimately drifted away.
