The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has announced that due to the celebration of Armed Forces Week in the city, it will be necessary to alter and modify mobility and traffic in the areas surrounding the event from this Saturday until June 10.
The Council has detailed in a statement that citizens should be aware that, from this very Saturday, the 31st, due to the assembly of structures for the central event on June 7, there will be a closure of two entry lanes and one exit lane from the Juan Sebastián Elcano roundabout (at the height of the Fairgrounds) to Tres de Mayo Avenue, from 08:00 to 21:00, leaving only one access lane to Santa Cruz from the south, TF-4.
Similarly, starting this Saturday, there will be a total closure and prohibition of parking in the Palmetum, Maritime Park, and Maritime Avenue.
Electric scooters will also be removed from the Constitution Avenue, Mayor José Emilio García Gómez, Víctor Zurita Soler, Bravo Murillo, Maritime Avenue, Francisco La Roche, and Cabildo, where parking for Personal Mobility Vehicles (VMP) will logically be eliminated.
Due to the Static Naval Material Exhibition, which will be located from the height of the Tenerife Council to the entry of Francisco La Roche Avenue, there will be traffic alterations on Maritime Avenue, Spain Square, and Coastal Road, and the bus stop on Francisco La Roche Avenue will be rendered unusable, moving the stops for lines 909, 910, 914, 916, 921, 945, 946, and 947 to Europe Square, as well as the taxi stop on Francisco La Roche Avenue and the scooters and their parking lots on this avenue.
On June 5, from 17:30 to 19:00, due to the Military Music Meeting, there will be traffic alterations in the roads and surroundings of Maritime and Francisco La Roche Avenues (from San Carlos Square to Spain Square); El Pilar and Villalba Hervás streets; as well as San Sebastián Avenue and Bravo Murillo; Weyler Square and Castle Street, with the impact extending to pedestrian areas due to the passage of bands on Castle Street, Candelaria Square, Prince’s Square, San Carlos Square, Conception Church Square, and Valentín Sanz Street.
That same day, the 5th, and for the rehearsal of the Tribute Act Parade, there will be traffic alterations on Maritime Avenue, specifically with closures from the Juan Sebastián Elcano roundabout (at the height of the Fairgrounds) to the Tres de Mayo Avenue roundabout, from 20:00 hours until 04:00 hours on the 6th.
For June 7, Saturday, Armed Forces Parade Day, traffic alterations will take place from 03:00 to 19:00, with the closure of TF-4, from the link with TF-1. Therefore, entering and exiting the city via the Ramblas or La Salle Avenue is recommended, considering that there will be restricted access to and from garages in the Cabo Llanos, Tres de Mayo, and Bravo Murillo areas.
In this referenced date range, from May 31 to June 10, the Mobility area recommends that if you need to use your private car, you should be informed about restricted access and parking-free zones; avoid traveling during peak hours, while reminding that entry and exit to the city will be preferable via the Ramblas, La Salle, and Santos Ravine. It details that the areas with the most significant impact will be the entrance to Santa Cruz via TF-4, the center, port area, and surroundings, as well as the main avenues and access roads to the official event venues.
Public Transport
In the different planned public transport devices, both urban service and taxis and trams, it should be noted that, regarding buses, there will be an extra services reinforcement on urban lines 014, 015, 908, 934, and 935 and interurban North 102, 103, 104, 110, 111, 114, 120, and 122, while an entry and exit lane with priority for public transport is enabled on Tres de Mayo Avenue, leaving the Costa Sur stop out of service, affecting lines 010, 111, 120, 121, 122, 138, 139, 142, 935, 936, 940, and 941.
Similarly, the Casetas Azules stop is out of service, affecting 902, 906, 908, and 920; the TEA and Fuente Morales stops are also out of service, affecting line 919, while the José Hernández Afonso street, Miraflores street, Ramón y Cajal street, etc., affect lines 014, 026, 228, 902, 906, 908, 909, 919, and 920. Deviations will also occur on La Salle Avenue, Méndez Nuñez Street, Ramblas, and Maritime Avenue for lines going to Anaga, such as 909, 910, 914, 916, 917, 921, 945, 946, and 947. Lines 015, 231, 232, 233, 238, 912, 921, 934, and 937 will remain unchanged.
On Taxi Day of the Parade, the stops on Constitution Avenue, José Manuel Guimerá Avenue, and Francisco la Roche will be disabled, and for tram routes, from 06:00 to 18:00, the stops at Interchanger and Foundation will be disabled, leaving the last access stop to Santa Cruz located at Guimerá Theater, increasing the frequency of passage on Line 1 every 10 minutes, from 06:00 to 21:00. And regarding the operationality of the dock, vehicle exit to Santa Cruz will be carried out via North Dock.
Finally, the City Council reminds the recommendation to use public transport and announces that all updated information on closures, deviations, and special services will be available on www.santacruzdetenerife.es, on the Corporation’s official social networks, as well as the citizen line 010, while thanking the collaboration of the entire population and urging compliance with special signage and the instructions of the Local Police and Public Order Forces.
