Teatro Tenerife Artes Espacio has a showing this weekend at 7:00 p.m. of To Our Friends, the latest film by Madrid director Adrián Orr. It follows a young woman over four years during which her life completely transforms. This film, which won the award for Best Documentary at the Spanish Film Festival of Nantes and the Best Canarian Production Film Award at the International Film Festival of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria—Premio Richard Leacock for best feature—offers a generational portrait of community life, exploring friendship and the transition into adulthood, capturing those crucial moments that shape who we are with remarkable sensitivity.
Monologue
The Canarian comedian Kike Pérez will be performing his show ‘Prohividas’ this Saturday, May 24, at the Unión Tejina Theatre.

Forty is the new twenty, right? You find yourself caught in that stage where you’re not quite sure whether you fancy a night out or if you’re just looking forward to the weekend to rest. It’s that odd feeling of being too close to the carefree, energetic person you were just a couple of days ago—and yet aware that you might be visiting the physiotherapist for your knees a bit more often than you’d like. That phrase, “the forties are the new twenty,” which has caused quite a stir, prompts Kike to reflect on the choices we make to seem ageless.
Music
The singer Leo Rizzi will be giving his first concert in Tenerife on Saturday, performing at the Paraninfo de la Ull, starting at 9:00 p.m. His song Blue Bird, which was released last year, will be featured, and he’ll be accompanied by his full band.
Traditions
On Sunday, one of the island’s most popular pilgrimages will take place: the Realejos pilgrimage, in honour of San Isidro Labrador and Santa María de la Cabeza. Beginning at noon, after the Eucharist concludes, under the interpretation of the Canarian Mass by Tigaray, the procession will set off. Post-pilgrimage, the musical festivities will commence at Plaza Viera and Clavijo and on Dr. González Street, showcasing performances from the orchestras SABROSA, CORINTO, and GRUPO LD at the first location, and Musical duo AM en Código and Santi Pérez at the latter.
This Sunday, May 25, Las Mercedes in La Laguna will once again burst with colour and tradition as it celebrates its pilgrimage, music, and popular gastronomy. Expect to see 25 folk groups and 22 carts, along with four ships and eight dance groups joining in the festivities.
Sports
Sunday is the main day for sporting events this weekend. Starting at 12:00, the Santiago Martín de la Laguna pavilion will host the Endesa League match between Laguna Tenerife and Valencia Basket.
Then in the afternoon, kicking off at 5:30 p.m., it’s football time, with CD Tenerife facing Real Oviedo in their final match of the season at Heliodoro Rodríguez López.
