Local Police Revive 75-Year-Old Man in La Orotava After Cardiac Arrest

Police officers in La Orotava have successfully resuscitated a 75-year-old man who suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest in the Plaza de la Constitución, a municipality in Tenerife, as reported by Canary Islands 1-2.

This incident took place around 2:00 PM when the Emergency and Security Coordinating Centre (CECOES) 1-1-2 received a call indicating that a man had fainted while inside a bank and needed medical assistance.

Before emergency teams arrived, a Coordinator from the SUC, who was in the operations room, learned during questioning that the individual was in cardiorespiratory arrest and provided instructions over the phone for resuscitation measures to be initiated.

Local police, equipped with a semi-automatic external defibrillator (DESA), arrived on site and administered four shocks with the device, successfully restoring the man’s pulse.

Once the SUC staff reached the scene, the affected individual was stabilised and subsequently transported in a critical condition by medicalised ambulance to the University Hospital of the Canary Islands.
