Cabildo de Tenerife Hosts Rally for New Officials at 21,300 Euros

Last Friday, the Cabildo de Tenerife held a formal event to welcome its new officials; individuals who have secured their positions. This gathering had a budget of €21,300, as outlined in a resolution from the Governing Council dated May 15. The document details that this amount will cover expenses such as the venue at the Tenerife Auditorium, refreshments, printing of certificates, labelling, and dynamic graphics for presentations.

The agreement from the Governing Council states that the aim is to foster a suitable work environment and relations between the Corporation and its employees, promoting an inclusive workplace that contributes to better achievement of corporate objectives. This initiative is framed within the representative functions of the presidency of the Corporation and pertains to the significant administrative responsibilities of the island councils.

Rosa Dávila, the president of the Cabildo, shared her thoughts on social media regarding the employees of the entity during the event, which also saw the attendance of Vice President Lope Afonso (PP) and several officials from the Corporation. Among those present were José Miguel Ruano, the second vice president and advisor for the Presidency, Administration and Public Service; Candelaria Padrón, the Minister for Citizen Attention and Quality of Services; and Juan Manuel Santana, the Insular Director of Human Resources, Public Service and Digital Transformation.

During the occasion, Dávila conveyed political messages, stating: “The Cabildo de Tenerife is a democratic institution built on agreement and dialogue, with a shared objective: to advance this island, enhancing its qualities to be a better place for living, working, and growing. From the outset of this mandate, we acknowledged that such progress would not be feasible without the personnel breathing life into this institution and all its associated entities.”

In his remarks, Dávila spoke highly of his government team. “We committed to implementing change, modernising the human resources policy, and seamlessly closing the long-anticipated processes of stabilisation and consolidation. We also aim to establish a professional career pathway that recognises effort, rewards commitment, and provides genuine opportunities for growth, both in tasks and responsibilities, as well as in working conditions,” he stated.

The president expressed that “this commitment is more vital today than ever. This celebration reflects the journey we are undertaking together. With pride, we can confirm that this commitment has been fulfilled. Nearly 400 professionals have managed to secure their employment, solidifying their future and bolstering the indispensable role they play within the Cabildo de Tenerife. Alongside these processes, we have successfully completed eight selection processes and appointed 69 new public employees.”

For Dávila, “this represents not merely a professional enhancement. It is an act of justice towards those who have exhibited unwavering dedication, often without the assurances of stability they deserved in a timely manner. It also signifies a commitment to strengthening public services, retaining talent, and constructing a more robust, efficient, and humane administration.”

Vice President Lope Afonso noted, “The journey to this point has not been straightforward: candidates have faced challenging assessments, demonstrating their readiness, commitment, and capacity to embrace the significant responsibilities of being part of this insular institution. I encourage them to undertake this new responsibility with enthusiasm, ethics, and a service-oriented mindset. Public service may not always be visible, but its impact is profound and enduring.”

The event, moderated by journalist Yaiza Díaz, also featured contributions from Olga Morales, Head of Legal Regime, Union Relations and Public Sector; and Cristina Perdigón, Legal Branch Technician in the Ministry of Roads, representing the employees. The gathering concluded with musical performances by Danny Martínez, Samuel Ortiz, and Paula Gómez.
