Starting tomorrow, May 20, the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council will open the period for voluntary payment of various municipal taxes, which will remain open until July 22. From Tuesday, residents can download their respective payment notifications from the municipal website.
The council noted that during the first half of 2025, the taxes due include property tax (IBI), IBI for special characteristics, tax on mechanical traction vehicles (filming), solid waste collection fees (household rubbish), and fees for private or special use of the municipal public domain (fords, parking, and automated cash machines).
José Manuel Bermúdez, the mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, emphasised that “we are fully aware that the contributions of each resident are crucial for us to continue enhancing public services, infrastructure, and the overall well-being of our capital, thus contributing to the ongoing development and improvement of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Furthermore, we remain committed to being one of the cities with the least fiscal pressure across Spain.”
José Alberto Díaz-Estébanez, the Councillor for the Treasury, highlighted that “the council offers amenities such as personalised payment plans and the possibility of requesting instalments or deferrals of tax debts, all upon request. Our objective is to ensure that everyone can meet their obligations in the manner that best suits their circumstances, with various online payment options available, as well as in-person payments at authorised banking institutions like Cajasiete, Caixa, BBVA, Santander, Banca March, and Correos.”
The tax calendar for Santa Cruz in 2025 will be open until July 22, and residents who have arranged their payments prior to April 21 will benefit from a 5% rebate on their tax payments this year; those who set up payments after this date will see the discount applied in 2026.
As of Tuesday, payment documentation can be downloaded from the electronic headquarters of the Santacrucero City Council (https://www.santacruzdetenerife.es/web/servicios-municipales/hacienda/carta-de-pago-recibo-formas-de-pago); at any of the interactive kiosks located throughout the city; via the Anaga Virtual Assistant, which is accessible on the municipal website and through the WhatsApp channel at +34 695 88 68 91; or in person at the municipal information offices without the need for a prior appointment.
The Chicharrero Consistory provides various facilities for residents to meet their tax responsibilities. Therefore, those residents who have set up direct debits for their tax payments will see the charge applied at the close of the voluntary payment period, specifically on July 8. Taxpayers can also avail themselves of a personalised payment plan, along with the option to request instalments or deferrals of tax debts during this period, upon request.
