Canary Islands’ Tenth Gastronomic Hall Showcases Flavors from Four Unique Municipalities

The distinct taste of Four municipalities of TenerifeSanta Cruz Fairgrounds in celebration of the tenth edition of Gastrocanarias. A diverse array of activities will showcase the finest local products from Candelaria, La Orotava, San Miguel de Abona, and Santiago del Teide.

Tourism of Tenerife

Tourism of Tenerife re-engages in a new edition of the leading exhibition for the sector in the archipelago, alongside the primary sector section operated by the Cabildo. It will feature a dedicated space on the Heineken stage, with several chefs participating, including some with Michelin stars. An extensive programme ensures that the four municipalities will hold a distinctive importance.

Reference

The Minister of Tourism for the Cabildo, Lope Afonso, states that Tenerife is “the major reference point for Gastronomy in the Canary Islands, a truth that has transcended, evolving into a cultural pillar and a dynamic aspect of our economy.” The tourism sector increasingly supports the culinary scene and local products, transforming them into “a thriving success and especially of high quality.” The coincidence of the tenth anniversary of Gastrocanarias and the 25th of the Island Gastronomy Plan encourages an extensive selection of activities at the Tenerife Tourism Stand.

Identity

On Tuesday the 20th, chefs will demonstrate recipes centred around various products from Tenerife at the Heineken stage, within the framework of cooking activities with identity. They include Jesus Camacho with tropical fruits; Jorge Peñate with local fish; Diana Marcelino (goat meat); Suo Marrero (blue fish); Diego Schattenhofer featuring fish maturation; Ronny Reina (cheeses and almonds); and Alfredo Marrero (Gofio and Café).

San Miguel

Tuesday will also spotlight San Miguel de Abona, commencing with Guayonje onion, led by Guacimara Medina, Technique, and Iván González, chef at the Bodega de San Miguel. Additional workshops featuring chefs Walter Moya, Francesco Carbone, and Miguel A. Martín will also be held.

Santiago del Teide

On that Tuesday, Santiago del Teide will present the Route del Barraquito with Mario Rodríguez, which will be repeated on Wednesday and Thursday. On Wednesday, alongside this City Council, there will be a workshop titled What the Sea Provides, led by Ronny Reina.

Candelaria

Candelaria will promote several workshops on Wednesday, featuring Desiré Afonso Morales, Agustín Espinosa, David Guevara, Cristian Ribero, Alejandro Afonso, and Bart Catalán de la Torre.

La Orotava

On Thursday, La Orotava is set to host an avocado showcooking session led by Enrique Luis, along with additional workshops from Carmen Sosa and Nieves Carballo.

Other municipalities

In addition to these municipalities, others frequently attending gastronomic events, like Santa Cruz, Guía de Isora, La Laguna, and Los Realejos, will also participate.

Mounting

In total, there will be 225 stands for the 72 companies taking part across 12,000 square metres of venue space. Two major stages have already been established, comprising five kitchens and additional portable units; two training classrooms, along with a designated area for washing cups. Notably, more than 40 scrubbers will be installed, and certain positions will require over 100kw of power. In total, 500 individuals are engaged to ensure everything is prepared for the main gastronomic exhibition in the Canary Islands.
