Arona: A Sustainable Sun-Soaked Gem for Eco-Friendly Travelers

“Arona continues to strengthen its status as a benchmark in accessible, interconnected, and high-quality tourism” through its participation in Expovacations 2025, the major tourism event in northern Spain taking place until tomorrow at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre (BEC) in Barakaldo.

The involvement of the Arona Tourism Board in this exhibition aims to enhance its visibility in the national market, particularly in the northern peninsula, where the public is increasingly interested in sustainable sun and beach destinations, featuring high-quality services, outdoor activities, and a diverse cultural and gastronomic offering, according to a statement by the Aonero municipal government.

Arona showcases its paradise of sensations at this tourism gathering with a development model that merges the appeal of its climate and beaches with an accessible and sustainable tourism offering. The Aonero City Council asserts that “These principles shape a destination that commits to continuous improvement, enhancing the visitor experience, and harmonious coexistence between residents and tourists.”

Playa de las Américas, Playa de los Cristianos, and Costa del Silencio-Las Cookies exemplify this vision, which visitors to the fair can experience first-hand, as they are key features of Arona’s presence at the event. The municipality’s offerings range from active and nature tourism to wellness proposals, sports, cultural heritage, sun and beach experiences, or local gastronomy, catering to diverse traveller profiles.

Arona also exemplifies cooperation between public administrations and the private sector, leading the destination to receive significant recognition as an accessible and exemplary tourist location, alongside its adherence to the network of smart tourist destinations promoted by the Secretary of State for Tourism.

Expovacations attracts thousands of visitors and industry professionals each year, serving as an ideal platform to connect with new audiences and showcase the latest tourism trends. This year, under the motto “Experience and Savour,” it provides a wide range of activities and experiences for all demographics.

Through this participation, Arona reaffirms its commitment to responsible, inclusive, and varied tourism, focusing on innovation and sustainable development as key pillars for the future, according to the municipal government led by Fatima Lemes.
