Two More Southern Tenerife Beaches Closed Due to “Adverse Analytics”

The Adeje Town Council, situated in the south of Tenerife, has temporarily closed the beaches of Troy I and the Puertito due to adverse water analysis results, though the specific cause has not been disclosed.

The council has stated that the beaches will be reopened as soon as the water analysis confirms it is safe for bathing.

These two beaches are now alongside La Jaquita, located in El Médano (Municipality of Granadilla), which has been closed for several days following the detection of elevated levels of fecal bacteria Escherichia coli (E.Coli) beyond permitted limits. Conversely, on the northern coast of the island, Playa Jardín in Puerto de la Cruz has been closed since July 2024 due to the presence of fecal bacteria in the water, resulting from a broken submarine emitter that drains into the area and remains unrepaired.
