Closure Near Jaquita Beach Due to Elevated Fecal Bacteria Levels

The Granadilla de Abona City Council (Tenerife) has undertaken the temporary closure of La Jaquita Beach, situated in El Médano, following the detection of a bacteria level of Escherichia coli (E. coli) exceeding the permissible limit.

The local authority has announced in a press statement that further samples have been gathered for analysis at a specialised laboratory.

The City Council states that this action is taken to ensure the safety of swimmers, pending the results of the counter-analysis. As soon as the findings confirm that the waters are safe for swimming, they will proceed to reopen the beach.

Additionally, the municipality advises adherence to the guidelines set by the lifeguard team and beach safety regulations.
