Tenerife PSOE Presents Ten Proposals for Island State Council Debate

The socialist contingent in the Cabildo de Tenerife has introduced a series of ten proposals for consideration during the discussion on the island’s status, scheduled for this Monday in the assembly of the island corporation.

The PSOE clarified this Sunday that these motions contribute to over a hundred suggestions made to the Cabildo’s budget for 2025. Nonetheless, it lamented that these have been “systematically rejected by the current governing body.”

“We are not disheartened if our proposals are turned down. We will persist in our efforts for Tenerife, presenting pragmatic ideas and initiatives aimed at enhancing the lives of residents,” remarked the leader of the Socialist Group, Pedro Martín, who condemned “the lack of commitment” from the island’s administration (CC and PP) along with its president, Rosa Dávila.

Pedro Martín has accused Dávila of “limiting herself to creating media publicity” that “has not translated into tangible solutions” during her two years in office.

“She assured us of advancements on the roads but has failed to deliver. She claimed that the works at Playa Jardín would commence within 48 hours, yet we have been waiting since last summer. She spoke of a mental health strategy for young individuals but has implemented nothing. She promised €2 million to encourage agricultural vocations among youth, and that has also not been executed,” Martín outlined.

In this regard, the president of the Socialist Group opined that Rosa Dávila’s record consists of “a lengthy catalogue of unfulfilled commitments,” asserting that she is “more focused on maintaining a presence on social media and the news” rather than “addressing the challenges facing Tenerife.”
