The new deadline has been extended until June 30
Santa Cruz de Tenerife, APR. (Press Europa) –
The Ministry of Tourism and Employment of the Canary Islands Government has prolonged the deadline for submitting applications until June 30 for financial aid aimed at supporting energy efficiency and circular economy projects within tourism businesses on the islands. The objective is to enable them to diminish their carbon footprint and energy usage.
This initiative is designed to assist establishments in tourism, leisure, and hospitality, providing them with additional time to apply for subsidies funded by the Next Generation European funds as part of the recovery, transformation, and resilience plan, which amounts to a total of €14,988,784.14, according to a statement from the Ministry.
The Regional Department notes that, to date, 191 applications have been received, and with the available budget allocated, the extension was announced today in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC). The funding covers 100% of the investment, up to a maximum of €150,000.
About the aid programme
This aid initiative will encompass various actions, including the installation of sensors that enable consumption monitoring to optimise energy, food, and water savings, alongside the implementation of management systems.
Additionally, it promotes the use of materials that enhance thermal insulation and more efficient technologies, as well as interventions focusing on waste management and those aimed at reuse and recycling.
Moreover, it encourages the production and procurement of locally sourced supplies and improvements in facilities and lighting equipment.
This is further complemented by the adoption of efficient appliances and terminals, along with upgrades in thermal facilities targeting boiler or pipe insulation.
The subsidy programme also includes the digitalisation, automation, and control of building management systems, in addition to training and awareness actions aimed at both the workforce and customers regarding energy efficiency.
Interested individuals can submit applications electronically at the Electronic Headquarters of the Canary Islands Government until June 30, as opposed to the previously set date of April 30.
