SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE APR. (Press Europa) –
The Governing Council of the Cabildo de Tenerife authorised on Wednesday the procurement of 70 intelligent sensors designed to oversee 94% of the island and prevent forest fires.
This was elucidated by the president of the Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, alongside the third vice president, José Carlos Acha, during a press conference presenting issues approved in the session. They indicated that the investment will amount to approximately 1.4 million euros, with a projected execution period of three years.
Rosa Dávila remarked that this initiative “was left behind” during the previous term and emphasised that the aim is to enhance emergency management and environmental stewardship.
She also specified that, being an autonomous system, it would remain unaffected by disruptions in the electric or telephone supply.
During the Governing Council, the conclusive evaluation report from the Interdepartmental Commission for gender equality, conducted by the Insular Directorate of Equality and Diversity, was presented, confirming a 97% compliance rate with the projects and actions slated for 2024.
Dávila asserted that these figures demonstrate a “strong commitment” from the Cabildo to true equality and signify “advancement” towards a more equitable and fair island.
Additionally, José Carlos Acha noted that the Governing Council, as part of the Ministry of Culture, approved an increase of nearly 120,000 euros for the adaptation of the ‘former Fasnia cinema’ project in line with the new technical regulations.
Consequently, the total investment for this undertaking, which falls under the 2016-2028 Cultural Infrastructure Plan, stands at 3.2 million euros.
In the realm of sports, to promote traditional activities, a sum of 75,846 euros was sanctioned to finalise the funding for the ‘Insular School of Lucha’, managed by the Ideco public company.
Furthermore, the Governing Council granted a subsidy of 663,000 euros for 2025 to cover the entire cost of the channel fees for the Tenerife Insular Slaughterhouse.
