The City Council of La Laguna and the local coordinator representing those affected by the Tenerife Norte Airport have recently convened a working session to examine the disturbances caused by these facilities to the residents in the vicinity, as well as the potential repercussions of extending the operational hours of this infrastructure. Present from the local authority were the mayor of the municipality, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, and the Councillor for Citizen Security, Badel Albelo.
The councillor stated that the governing team “is firmly and resolutely opposed to this extension, as it would clearly harm the quality of life for all individuals living in the surrounding areas and diminish the intrinsic value of their properties. We have agreed on a collaborative approach with the coordinator to urge the relevant authorities and those in charge of AENA to implement necessary measures concerning soundproofing and road safety, ensuring that the impact of this infrastructure on the wellbeing of the public is minimised,” he stated.
