Santa Cruz de Tenerife 23 Apr. (Press Europa) –
The fire that ignited yesterday in a warehouse within the Industrial Polygon of Güímar (Tenerife) has been entirely extinguished by the island’s firefighting team on Wednesday afternoon, having impacted over 12,000 square metres, according to a statement from the Cabildo de Tenerife.
The blaze affected approximately 8,800 square metres of the exterior of the property and an additional 4,000 square metres in the space between the road and the motorway.
The swift response of the emergency crews averted a significant spread of flames into the interior of the warehouse, where only partial damage to facades and glass was reported.
The incident resulted in damage to vehicles, containers, machinery, gas storage and other materials situated in the vicinity of the warehouse.
An operation involving 40 personnel from the Tenerife Fire Consortium was mobilised, alongside units from the Forest Brigades of the Cabildo (BRIFOR), Volunteer Firefighters, Civil Guard, Local Police of Güímar, Canarian Police, Civil Protection and Health Resources.
Consequently, following the extinguishing and cooling efforts, the emergency operations have been concluded.
In turn, the City Council of Candelaria will conduct a technical assessment of the condition of the warehouse to ascertain the appropriate next steps.
