The personnel from the Tenerife Fire Consortium, along with volunteers and the forest brigades from the Cabildo de la Isla, have successfully managed to control the fire that broke out on Tuesday in a cargo ship at the industrial estate of Güímar.
This was confirmed by the operational command present at the scene early on Wednesday, when most professional firefighters and all volunteers were withdrawn after the fire was stabilised, as indicated by sources from the island corporation.
Currently, a team remains at Zone Dos BUP (heavy urban bombs) and a personnel relay vehicle from the Tenerife Fire Consortium, along with a BUN (Nodriza Urban Pump) unit from Brifor, to continue the cooling operations.
The ship has been opened to allow for the ventilation of the smoke that had accumulated inside.
Now, the cooling efforts persist on the side adjacent to the ravine, with intensive actions focused on the embers at the rear, which still exhibit some activity, particularly in the area nearest to the main road.
The fire commenced around 6:57 p.m. in a cargo ship, producing a significant column of visible smoke observable from the southern highway of Tenerife and the entire Güímar Valley, prompting the Civil Guard, in partnership with the Insular Road Ministry, to close the road for safety precautions.
