The recova has embraced the 21st century by launching a sales channel for fresh products via the Internet, making it the inaugural Canarian supply market to offer an online shopping service. This announcement was made yesterday by the mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, during the unveiling of this digital platform, named Marketplace online, which is now operational following an investment of 1.7 million euros.

This tool will enable customers to purchase nearly 400 products from the comfort of their homes, supplied by fifteen stores within the Our Lady of Africa market via the website https://compra.la-recova.com, which is available 24 hours a day. The range of offerings is set to expand with the training of merchants, allowing customers to collect their orders from 18 smart kiosks (ten of which are refrigerated) situated in the market’s car park, free of charge for those who shop online from 07:00 to 21:00, Monday to Friday, and until 15:00 on Saturdays and Sundays.
Bermúdez remarked that “the market is one of the commercial hubs of Santa Cruz, and this initiative signifies its modernisation, while retaining its distinctive character. It is a project aimed at providing accessible trade in this space, with additional enhancements planned for its facilities.”

Additionally, Carlos Tarife, the Councilor for Strategic Planning, stated that “the aim of the Marketplace is for our markets to adapt to evolving consumer habits, thereby enhancing competitiveness and enabling faster, more convenient purchases.”

Meanwhile, Estefanía Hernández, the market president, expressed her support for the introduction of the new channel, “I hope more shops and kiosks are incorporated, as this will lead to success.”

Pablo Martín, the general director of Technological Projects, mentioned that the purchasing website “is user-friendly and secure. Customers merely need to register via email to navigate through categories and place their order. Once the shopping cart is finalised and payment is completed, a notification will be sent via email, containing a QR code for collecting the purchase at the kiosks.”
