Residents of central Santa Cruz have reported numerous thefts over the past few weeks, allegedly carried out by a group that tends to operate in the morning, taking advantage of the occupants’ absence, particularly the elderly who leave to shop or attend to errands. They force entry through doors, targeting cash and jewellery without leaving any evidence behind.
Recently, they broke into a residence on Calle Castro and tampered with a safe.
The residents are calling for an increased police presence.
