SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE APR. (Press Europa) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife is examining the introduction of enhancements in three areas situated within protected natural environments, in addition to organising and enhancing services available for motorhomes.
Specifically, this involves the potential establishment of certain locations in Granadilla, Vilaflor, and Anaga, along with the enhancement of areas located within the municipalities of Tacoronte and Guía de Isora.
The Minister of Natural Environment, Sustainability, Security and Emergencies, Blanca Pérez, along with the Insular Director of Natural Environment, Pedro Millán, recently convened a meeting with representatives from the motorhome community in the Canary Islands.
This collective includes the Association of Friends of Nature, a caravan club from La Palma; Caravanning Club La Palma-Isla Bonita, Camping Club and Caravanos Gran Canaria, Caravaning Club Chinec, Caravaning Club Tenerife, and Friends of the Camarravanas and Campers of the Canary Islands, as noted by the Cabildo.
Blanca Pérez elaborates that the Cabildo is endeavouring to “organise and enhance an activity that has grown significantly following the pandemic,” as they look into improvements for existing authorised spaces and the rehabilitation of those already in place.
“We are also considering the establishment of new areas to allow this activity to flourish, which has gained many enthusiasts not only in Tenerife but throughout the Canary Islands,” she explains.
Blanca Pérez highlights that the aim is to generally enhance services for users of camping areas that depend on the location, as well as to assess whether the clean points in the island network can accommodate the disposal of grey and black water produced by these vehicles for subsequent treatment.
“We are pursuing that avenue to ascertain feasibility. Furthermore, we wish to improve the management of areas designated for motorhomes so that the public can utilise them sensibly,” she states.
