On Wednesday, the island of La Palma will host the General Assembly meeting of the Islands Commission of the Conference of Peripheral and Maritime Regions (CRPM) of the EU, where topics such as the demographic challenge, climate change, and environmental protection will be discussed.
The Government of the Canary Islands will take this opportunity to present its legal approach aimed at restricting housing purchases by non-residents within the archipelago during this summit, which gathers 18 EU island territories.
The President of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, is scheduled to speak at the assembly at 2 pm. Prior to that, in the morning, he will hold discussions with Monika Hencsey, the Director of Budget, Communication, General Affairs and Responsible for the RUP at the European Commission, as well as with Marie-Antoinette Maupertuis, the President of the Parliament of Corsica.
Later in the afternoon, at 5:00 p.m., there will be a panel discussion on sustainable economy featuring Jéssica de León, the Minister of Tourism and Employment of the Government of the Canary Islands.
