SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE APR. (Press Europa) –
An individual has been taken to hospital suffering from mild smoke inhalation following a level 3 fire that erupted on Tuesday afternoon in the Güímar Industrial Polygon (Tenerife), which necessitated the closure of the TF-1 due to the thick smoke that obstructed visibility.
The Southern Highway has now been reopened to vehicles, and a team coordinated by the Cabildo de Tenerife, consisting of 40 personnel, is working in the vicinity. They will operate throughout the night to secure the fire perimeter and prevent any further spread to adjoining areas.
The fire ignited at approximately 18:57 within a goods warehouse, producing a significant plume of smoke.
In response to the incident, 22 personnel from the Tenerife Fire Consortium were deployed, along with 16 members from the island’s Volunteer Fire Associations.
Additionally, 6 staff from the Forest Brigades of the Cabildo (Brifor) and several units from the Civil Guard, Local Police of Güímar, Canarian Police, and Civil Protection took part in the response, along with two ambulances dispatched as a precautionary measure.
Upon completion of the firefighting efforts, an investigation will be conducted to determine the fire’s causes and assess the condition of the warehouse as instructed by the Candelaria City Council.
