A video showing a dramatic accident that took place on the North Highway of Tenerife, the TF-5, has emerged several days post-incident. In the footage, which has circulated on social media recently, a white luxury vehicle can be seen making numerous reckless overtakes in a heavily trafficked section of the TF-5, near exit 19 (Tacoronte) heading north.
After abruptly shifting lanes multiple times to continue moving forward, and despite the heavy presence of vehicles, the white car attempts to squeeze past two other cars. However, there is insufficient space, resulting in a collision with them that violently lifts one of the cars off the ground. In no time, other drivers activate their hazard lights, leading to a traffic jam stretching several kilometres, while the three impacted vehicles block two lanes.
According to the Emergency and Security Coordinating Centre of the Canarian Government (Cecos 1-1-2), the accident, which occurred on Thursday afternoon, resulted in a serious injury to a 30-year-old man who, at the time of initial assistance, exhibited various severe traumas. He was subsequently transported in a medicalised ambulance from the Canarian Urgencies Service (SUC) to the University Hospital of the Canary Islands.
The fire brigade from the Tenerife Consortium was also dispatched to the scene, extricating three individuals from one of the damaged vehicles and assisting in clearing the road and removing the involved vehicles alongside road maintenance personnel.
SUC team members assessed and treated five additional individuals who suffered minor injuries, and after stabilising the seriously injured patient, they transferred him to the aforementioned hospital.
Meanwhile, the Civil Guard carried out the necessary report related to the incident.
