The Cabildo de Tenerife, in partnership with the municipalities of Buenavista del Norte and Santiago del Teide, is set to introduce a discretionary transport service for mandatory travellers this Friday. MASCA.

President of the Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, stated that “this initiative, which has been in development for over a year in the Rural Park of Teno, aims to manage arrivals and alleviate traffic congestion while enhancing safety for both visitors and residents, as well as freeing up parking spots.”

She further explained that “the objective is to establish sustainable mobility that aligns with tourism to safeguard a delicate area of high ecological importance such as Masca.”

Utilisation of this service for users of the Masca Barranco road is compulsory for descending, and access will be regulated via the Visitors Centre.

Tickets for this service will be exclusively available on the official website Caminobarrancodemasca.com, and the transport fee will be included in the entry ticket price for the Masca ravine.

Consequently, those who arrive in Masca without using the bus will not be permitted to traverse the ravine.

This regulatory service involves the imposition of a charge for its provision, so starting tomorrow, visitors wishing to enjoy the Masca ravine trail must utilise the new mandatory discretionary transport service.

This service will operate on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with departures every 20 minutes from the collection point in Santiago del Teide, specifically at the existing Titsa stop adjacent to the Town Hall.

The Southern City Council has facilitated a parking area at the municipal cemetery, where visitors can park their vehicles before proceeding to the stop, where a bus with a capacity for 18 passengers will be stationed.

The transport fee has been incorporated into the entry ticket price for the Masca ravine, and tickets will only be available through the official website: Caminobarrancodemasca.com.

Without a stamped entry ticket on the bus, access to the ravine will be denied, as required by the Cabildo.

Prices vary based on the visitor’s residency status. Adults and children who are residents of Tenerife will not face any charges for the descent into the Masca ravine or for mandatory transport.

Adult residents of the Canary Islands will incur a fee of 3 euros for the ticket, alongside 4 euros for the bus, while children will be charged 1.5 euros and 2 euros, respectively.

Non-resident adults will need to pay 28 euros for entry, in addition to 10 euros for transport, while children will be charged 14 euros, along with 5 euros for the bus fare.
