SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE APR. (Press Europa) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife, in collaboration with the Island Company of Crafts, announces the XXXII edition of the Tenerife Prize for the advancement and research of crafts from Spain and America.
The award, valued at 6,500 euros, aims to acknowledge the merits of a research project that explores the crafts and folk arts of Spain, Portugal, and all Spanish and Portuguese-speaking nations. This includes various facets such as research, revival of lost handicrafts or those on the brink of extinction, promotion, marketing, or any other elements impacting the sector.
The Minister of Employment and Education, Efraín Medina, notes in a statement that all individuals, legal entities, or groups wishing to apply may do so in accordance with the criteria set out in the guidelines.
Additionally, he emphasises the significance of the ‘Tenerife’ Prize among researchers in Latin American countries and among institutions connected to crafts and folk cultures in that region.
Entries must focus on the crafts and folk arts of Spain, Portugal, and all Spanish and Portuguese-speaking regions.
Those aspiring for the ‘Tenerife’ award must submit original works that have not been awarded in other competitions or presented in previous editions.
Consequently, the submission must stem from studies or investigations conducted by the individual or individuals identifying themselves as the “author” or “authors” of the work presented. The submission deadline concludes on September 26, 2025.
This award was founded in 1990, and since then, numerous researchers from nearly all Latin American countries with diverse themes have participated, covering every field related to crafts.
This has resulted in the generation of significant knowledge that will underpin new studies and contribute to the training of new generations of artisans.
