The Board of Brotherhoods and Fraternities of San Cristóbal de la Laguna has been honoured with the ‘Tenerife Norteste 2025’ Award bestowed by the Tourism Initiatives Centre for Tenerife.
The La Laguna City Council, via its Department of Tourism, extends public congratulations to the Board for this well-deserved accolade, recognising the commitment and dedication of all the brotherhoods to ensure that this festival is celebrated with the splendour, organisation, and solemnity for which it is known.
“The Lagunera Holy Week would be unimaginable without the relentless efforts of the Board of Brotherhoods and the participation of each of the fraternities,” remarked the Councillor for Tourism, Estefanía Díaz, who further noted that “thanks to their efforts, the lagoon transforms every year into a destination that provides a unique experience where faith, art, and culture intertwine.”
Thousands of individuals gather during these days in the Historic Centre, recognised as a World Heritage site by UNESCO, as well as in villages and neighbourhoods, to witness the processions that traverse their streets, featuring hundreds of floats that are true masterpieces.
The elegance, beauty, and organisation of each procession highlight the meticulous effort behind it, revealing the passion with which the brotherhoods prepare every detail for months, as emphasised by the Consistory.
This accolade from the Northeast CIT not only honours that commitment but also positions La Laguna as a benchmark for religious tourism in the Canary Islands, a comprehensive destination where spirituality coexists with heritage, culture, and local cuisine.
The City Council insists that such recognitions assist in showcasing work that is often quietly undertaken yet crucial in preserving the traditions that imbue the city with its meaning and character.
