The Adeje passion is set to unfold tomorrow at Calle Grande de Adeje at 12 noon, returning once again brimming with enhancements. This year’s edition sees improvements in the attire, particularly for the dancers portraying Herod and Claudia, alongside the inclusion of new elements for the Roman soldiers. The community and the backdrop have also benefitted from fresh materials provided by Athzzo, enhancing the overall ambience.
For the second consecutive year, a preliminary procession, referred to as the starting passion, has been incorporated prior to the main performance. During this procession, the Nazarene of forgiveness is carried from the hermitage of the vineyard to the parish of Santa Úrsula. A significant symbolic act takes place in which the parish priest is asked for permission (“La Venia”) to commence the presentation on Calle Grande. The priest grants this permission, signalling the official launch of the event.
San Pedro and San Juan
A key addition this year is the exchange between San Pedro and San Juan prior to the denials, which adds emotional richness to the storyline. Moreover, scenes introduced in the previous edition have been further developed, including the interaction between the Virgin Mary and María Magdalena.
Another notable highlight is the unveiling of a new setting for the Sanhedrin. The fabric banners adorning the route have also been completely refreshed.
Furthermore, some lyrics have been altered to align better with the overall tone of the production, enhancing the audience’s emotional engagement.
This year, approximately 300 amateur performers are participating, alongside the technical and logistical teams that make this representation possible year after year.
