SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE APR. (Press Europa) –
The unions representing the hospitality sector, including Base, IC, UGT, and CCOO, have turned down the latest counteroffer from the employers’ associations Ashotel and Aenor. They have opted to continue the strike in the tourist sector across the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife this Thursday and Friday.
The most recent proposal, which offered a pay rise exceeding 4% proposed last Monday, involved the mediation of the President of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo. He has been in discussions with both workers and employers to resolve the ongoing dispute.
The strike will not take place in the province of Las Palmas, where a 9% salary increase and an additional payment of €650 were agreed upon. Approximately 80,000 tourism and hospitality workers from the islands of Tenerife, La Gomera, La Palma, and El Hierro are expected to participate.
The Canary Islands government has implemented essential services that vary between 15% and 25%, depending on the departments.
