SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE APR. (Press Europa) –

The Ministry of Public Works, Housing and Mobility of the Canary Islands Government has commenced the bidding process for the second phase of the Chorrillo road, with a Base Bidding Budget of 6,571,317.49 euros, including IGIC.

This initiative, which was included in the previous agreement, may be incorporated into the current 2018-2027 road agreement following the signing of an addendum, aimed at moving forward with the necessary procedures for its implementation.

The project will establish connections between the Ofra neighbourhood and Draguillo, passing through the roundabout where Princes de España and the Rosario road intersect, and concluding at the junction with the TF-2, as detailed in a note from the Ministry.

Unlike section A, the execution of these sections will be less complex, as the primary infrastructure, the bridge over the Barranco del Muerto, has already been constructed.

Councillor Pablo Rodríguez has highlighted the dedication shown by the General Directorate of Road Infrastructure, led by Rosana Melián, to reactivate vital projects that had remained halted for years.

“From the outset of this legislative period, we have concentrated on revitalising initiatives that were stalled in the past four years. In this instance, we are discussing a crucial route to enhance mobility and connectivity in Tenerife,” he stated.

Rodríguez also pointed out the administrative challenges of the process: “This particular project has posed a significant technical and legal challenge, as it kept the works on hold for seven years. Nonetheless, we continue to tackle each obstacle, ensuring that the project’s development adheres to the necessary standards.”

Currently, the contract encompasses the completion of sections B and C.

Section B stretches from the Moraditas roundabout to the roundabout providing access to the San Matías neighbourhood and El Abandono street, known as Glorieta San Matías. Meanwhile, section C connects this last roundabout with the TF-2 road.

Companies interested in participating in the tender may submit their applications from Thursday until Wednesday, May 21, at 6:00 p.m. via the State Public Procurement Platform.
