The Cabildo, via the area of Culture and Museums of Tenerife, has today approved, in the Governing Council of the Insular Corporation, an investment of 1,853,769 euros for the fundamental project and execution of the consolidation of the Theater Baudet, located in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, which carries a budget of 1,853,769 euros, as stated by the vice president and Minister of Tourism, Lope Afonso.
Afonso further clarified that the duration of this initiative will span twelve months, and it encompasses improvements in structural systems, consolidation of the building’s structure through structural reinforcement of the concrete framework, alongside repairs and rehabilitation of metal profiles on the roof, enveloping systems, conditioning, insulation, and re-waterproofing of the flat roof. This includes replacing fibre cement coverage in the seating area, upgrading the opaque facade envelope, internal compartmentalisation repair, as well as pest control, disinfection, and cleaning.
The Minister of Culture and Museums of Tenerife, José Carlos Acha, emphasised that the project has received the endorsement of the Historical Heritage Administrative Service of the Cabildo de Tenerife, dated December 27, 2024, regarding its feasibility. Additionally, there is a favourable report from the Municipal Urban Planning Management of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, dated April 8, 2025.

Acha highlighted that the Baudet Theater, which opened on May 25, 1944, as one of the pioneering projects of the Tenerife architect José Enrique Marrero Regalado, stands as “an iconic representation of the golden age of cinema.”
José Carlos Acha added that “the passage of time and weather conditions have adversely affected its facilities, to such a degree that during the previous term it became essential to initiate a project to restore its roofs and pillars to prevent ongoing deterioration. In this regard, we have advocated for this investment, which will enable us to restore a space dedicated to culture across all facets, with the aim of creating a versatile venue.”
