SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE APR. (Press Europa) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife has approved the ‘Tenerife project with new employment opportunities 2025-2026’ with a budget of 4.1 million euros.
This initiative is co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus and the Canarian Employment Service (SCE) and aims to provide initial work experience through a training contract designed for acquiring professional skills.
This was explained on Wednesday by the first vice president, Lope Afonso, and the second vice president, José Miguel Ruano, at a press briefing detailing the matters approved during the Governing Council meeting.
The ‘Tenerife project advances with NOEE 2025-2026’ is aimed at employing individuals who are unemployed and registered as job seekers with the SCE, utilising the contractual modality of training contracts for acquiring professional experience. This initiative seeks to combat unemployment and facilitate the socio-labour integration of job seekers, while also contributing to the development of projects that serve the public interest.
Training contracts will span a duration of between 6 and 12 months and are associated with nearly twenty councils or services of the Cabildo de Tenerife.
In the cultural sector, the guidelines and call for grants to support non-profit organisations in Tenerife for the implementation of cultural projects in 2025 have been approved, amounting to 674,000 euros.
Funded activities include the creation, production, dissemination, and conservation of cultural assets and services, encompassing literature, audiovisual works, design, music and sound art, performing arts and movement, as well as visual arts.
Regarding infrastructure, contracts have been awarded for the management and oversight of five rehabilitation and improvement projects for various roads on the island, totalling almost 800,000 euros.
Furthermore, the budget for the call has been exceptionally increased to finance international development cooperation projects undertaken by non-governmental development organisations or other entities involved in international development cooperation, with an additional allocation of 60,000 euros, resulting in a total budget of 660,000 euros.
In the realm of social action, the Governing Council approved the guidelines and call for a subsidy of 130,000 euros aimed at island municipalities, intended to encourage and promote the participation of children and adolescents.
The aim of this initiative is to emphasise the protection of the interests and rights of young people, supporting municipal entities in actively engaging with and listening to this demographic while ensuring their involvement in decision-making processes on matters that may impact them.
