The representatives from Environment, Canarian Police, and Civil Guard have processed 98 complaints thus far this year concerning environmental violations in the Teide National Park, as reported on Wednesday by the Cabildo de Tenerife. They will be undertaking a Special Surveillance and Control Operation in natural areas during Easter Week.

The statistics were presented by the second vice president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, José Miguel Ruano, who mentioned at a press conference that the complaints regarding the Teide National Park stem from issues such as unauthorised parking, unauthorised activities in protected areas, the use of motor vehicles on forest tracks without permission, and camping without the necessary permits.

During 2024, the number of complaints regarding activities in the Teide National Park nearly tripled in comparison to 2023, rising from 100 to 262, thanks to the efforts of the Environment Agents, Canarian Police, and Civil Guard, Ruano noted.

In this context, the Vice President highlighted that a special surveillance and traffic control operation has been initiated in select natural spaces across the island, involving Civil Guard personnel, local police from Santa Cruz de Tenerife and La Laguna, Canarian Police, and Environment Agents from the Cabildo, coinciding with Holy Week.

This initiative commenced last Friday and is designed to ensure a consistent police presence in Teide National Park (Portillo-Los Azulejos section), Anaga Rural Park (Cruz del Carmen and Taganana), and the Rural Park of Teno (Masca).

Additionally, during Holy Week, public transport services have been enhanced with the activation of line 948, which connects the area of Azanos, the beach of Almáciga, and Benijos.

This service has been operational since last weekend and will continue throughout the Holy Week holidays.
