SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE APR. (Press Europa) –

The Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands will announce 1,362 positions for entry and access to non-university teaching groups, with the selection processes taking place in June 2025 and 2026.

The public announcement will be released next Monday in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands, establishing the submission period for applications from April 22 to May 20, inclusive, and from November 24 to December 22 for the specialities set for 2026.

“A notable aspect of this announcement is the introduction, for organisational reasons, of a mandatory presentation event, where applicants must submit their didactic programme,” stated Mónica Ramírez Barbosa, the general director of personnel and teacher training, in a press release.

This event will allow us “to gather accurate information about the number of participants and those advancing to the second test, facilitating the organisation of individual calls and assessing adherence to the official requirements of this document,” Ramírez added.

This announcement, which pertains to the public employment offers for 2022 and 2023, will include a total of 1,127 positions for 2025, of which 330 are for teachers across the following specialities: Primary Education and therapeutic pedagogy (100 positions each), Physical Education (55), Hearing and Language (30), English (25), and French (20).

In the secondary education teaching group, 789 positions will be available across 24 specialities in this same announcement: Physical Education (92 positions), Labour Training and Orientation (84), Business Administration (57), Economics (55), Physics and Chemistry (54), Educational Orientation (49), Mathematics (42), Computer Systems and Applications (40), Community Services (39), Commercial Processes (30), Geography and History (27), English (25), health and healthcare procedures (25), Philosophy (22), Computer Science (22), Social Community Intervention (19), Commercial Organisation and Management (15), Electrotechnical Installations (14), Vehicle Maintenance and Organisation Processes (12), Health Processes (11), Electrotechnical and Automatic Systems (9), Communication Processes and Media (8), and Personal Image Processes (8).

A total of eight remaining positions in the body of teachers specialising in unique vocational training sectors is allocated to hairdressing.

The tests scheduled for 2026 will encompass the remaining 235 positions, which will be added to the offers approved from 2024.

Additionally, within the secondary body, 192 positions are spread across ten technical specialities: Administrative Management Processes (66), Installation and Maintenance of Thermal and Fluid Equipment (26), Clinical and Orthoprothetic Diagnosis Procedures (17), Electronic Equipment (16), Agricultural Production Processes (15), Image, Sound and Audiovisual Procedures (13), Construction Project Office (12), Industrial Analysis and Chemistry (9), and Clinical Diagnostic Processes and Orthoprothetic Products (8).

In the official language schools, seven positions are available in the Spanish for Foreigners speciality.

Moreover, the body for plastic arts and design offers fifteen positions in volume specialities (4), interior design (4), digital means (4), and audiovisual media (3).

Finally, an additional twenty-one positions in the body of specialist teachers for unique vocational training sectors are available in manufacturing and installation specialities for carpentry and furniture (10), machining and maintenance of machinery (6), and welding (5).

Highlights

Among the key changes introduced, applicants will be required to attend a presentation event and submit the didactic programme that will be assessed in the second selection test.

This event will also provide an opportunity for the examination boards to communicate assessment criteria and the rules governing the tests.

The date for this event will be announced by resolution of the General Directorate of Personnel and Teacher Training at least twenty days in advance.

Additionally, the procedure allows candidates unable to attend the first test due to maternity related to childbirth, justified medical reasons due to hospital admission, or absolute impossibility, to be invited to a second test, which will take place no more than seven business days after the initial date.

Another procedural adjustment permits the same individual to register for up to two specialities within each teaching group.

If both are in different groups, the scheduling of tests will ensure there is no clash, allowing participation in both.

It is also stipulated that those already on the reserve lists will not be required to reapply unless they wish to pursue a new speciality not previously listed.

Furthermore, this call reserves a total of 105 positions for internal promotion from subgroup A2 to A1, and two positions for horizontal access within subgroup A1 in the Spanish for Foreigners speciality in the body of official language schools, a category that has not been summoned since 2008.
