Santa Cruz de Tenerife 14 Apr. (Press Europa) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife has invested around 258,000 euros in the procurement of new protective and uniform equipment for the eight volunteer fire brigades across Tenerife, aiming to enhance their operational capabilities.
The Insular Corporation has allocated 175 intervention uniforms and 105 technical rescue suits during a ceremony attended by the Minister of Natural Environment, Sustainability, Safety, and Emergencies, Blanca Pérez; the island director of Natural Media, Pedro Millán; and the Insular Director of Security and Emergencies, Iván Martín.
This equipment is designated for the volunteer firefighters from La Laguna, Teguise, Güímar, Adeje, Guía de Isora, Santiago del Teide, Los Realejos, and Icod-Ycoden-Daute, as noted in a statement from the Cabildo.
Blanca Pérez emphasises that the new uniforms have been provided to the eight Volunteer Firefighter Associations of Tenerife to support operations both on the island and beyond, with the objective of ensuring that “volunteers can operate under the best possible conditions.”
She believes that “volunteer firefighters undertake outstanding work during the various emergencies that arise on the island, and we will continue to support them.”
Meanwhile, the Insular Director of Security and Emergencies, Iván Martín, highlights that “it is vital for Tenerife’s volunteers to have the best possible equipment, and these state-of-the-art uniforms will enable them to perform their roles under improved conditions.”
The supplied equipment includes intervention gear for interior fires and technical rescue suits designed for hazardous situations such as traffic incidents, confined spaces, or the containment of forest and agricultural fires in rural areas.
Specifically, the first set comprises 175 units of intervention clothing, which feature certification category III with a protective multilayer system and reinforcements at elbows, knees, and shoulders.
As such, the gear includes a jacket and trousers equipped with monitoring and control systems for the equipment’s condition (microchip, bar code) and provides excellent protection against heat, flames, and water intrusion.
The second batch, consisting of 105 units, incorporates high-quality elements like jackets and trousers designed for durability.
