Santa Cruz de Tenerife 10 Apr. (Press Europa) –

The Canarian Commission for the right to identity, led by the Minister of Presidency Nieves Lady Barreto, has decided on Thursday to provide an accompaniment service in mental health for those without identity, as reported by the regional department in a statement.

This initiative will complement the evaluation that the group has already initiated for recognition as victims, according to article 3 of Law 20/2022, concerning Democratic Memory, and which is currently being processed by the Ministry of Justice, with guidance from the Diputación del Common.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Justice and Security, Cesáreo Rodríguez; the Deputy Minister of Culture and Cultural Heritage, Horacio Umpiérrez; as well as the president and vice president of the collective without identity, Jorge Raúl Rodríguez Carillo and Francisco González de Tena, respectively, along with representatives from the Cabildos and the Town Halls, through the FECAI and the FECAM.

During the session, the intention of the Ministry to promote August 30 as the day in memory of stolen minors and their families through an institutional event was also discussed, encouraging members to contribute their suggestions.

This date has been included in the regional calendar since 2019, when the regional government endorsed the first regulations on this issue in Spain to highlight and address the harm inflicted.

Consequently, the collective has been mobilised to continue gathering documentation to compile a book that reflects this reality in the Canary Islands, stemming from the war and the dictatorship.
