The La Laguna City Council has recently declared the closure of coastal areas within the municipality, following the Prealert issued by the Government of the Canary Islands due to storms, rainfall, strong winds, and potential flooding risks.

The unfavourable sea conditions have prompted a red flag to be raised in Jér, Bajamar, Punta del Hidalgo, and La Barranquera, thereby prohibiting swimming activities.

🚩 Due to the poor state of the sea, we are closing the coastal areas of #Lalaguna and placing red flags in Jover, Bajamar, Punta del Hidalgo, and La Barranquera.

We urge everyone to exercise caution and adhere to the recommended guidelines. pic.twitter.com/iMwmehugf

– La Laguna City Council (@aytolalaguna_es) April 8, 2025

The City Council implores the public to take necessary precautions and to follow the relevant recommendations in light of the impending Olivier Borrasca heading towards the archipelago.
