The Cabildo de Tenerife, in collaboration with the Town Hall of Buenavista del Norte, has decided to regulate traffic along the road to Teno tip (TF-445) starting Thursday, coinciding with the initiation of access enhancement works and the improvement of parking areas, as well as the vehicle rotation zone and the pedestrian pathway.
During the execution of the works, access to the area will be restricted to Titsa public transport (Line 369).
The restoration of the FARO de Teno, managed by the Ministry of Natural Environment, Sustainability, Security and Emergencies and Tourism, is set to take 10 months and involves an investment of 1,646,651.60 euros. This project is funded by the recovery, transformation and resilience plan, supported by the European Union’s Next Generation EU programme.
Blanca Pérez, the Minister of Natural Environment, Sustainability and Security and Emergencies, states that throughout the works, access will be facilitated via public transport to ensure the safety of operations.
“We recognise that this may cause some inconvenience, but it is critical to regulate traffic to complete the works and restore an iconic site like the lighthouse of Teno,” she remarks.
Titsa Services
Access to Teno Punta via the TF-445 road is controlled to enhance visitors’ experiences and safeguard the environment.
Titsa line 369 operates the route from the Guaguas station in Buenavista del Norte to Punta de Teno.
The journey lasts around 20 minutes and is priced at a special fare of 1 euro per person, which can be paid in cash, by card or via ten+ purse.
From October 1 to June 30, access is available every day of the week at the Guaguas Transportation Service from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
From July 1 to September 30, access can be made every day at the Guaguas Transportation Service between 9:00 AM and 8:00 PM.
Improvements
The restoration of the historic lighthouse is safeguarded by a collaboration agreement between the Town Hall of Buenavista del Norte, the current concessionaire of the Port Authority, and the Cabildo de Tenerife, involving a multidisciplinary effort among the departments of natural environment, sustainability, security and emergencies, and tourism.
The Faro de Teno will be fitted with essential amenities to highlight the cultural and social significance of the Rural Park of Teno.
Consequently, the project aims to provide water and electricity services to the entire structure and adapt the premises to house amenities such as a café or restaurant, as well as restrooms located nearby a storage area.
In parallel with this work, the parking facilities for authorised vehicles will be improved, turn areas will be established, and access will be modernised to enhance public transport efficiency and ensure the safety of both residents and visitors.
The works will occur simultaneously and also include efforts to beautify the natural surroundings while minimising the impact of construction activities.
