New Digital Display Highlights Parking Availability at Las Teresitas Beach

The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council announced on Saturday that a link has been added to the municipal website, along with a dynamic poster located at the juncture of Las Ramblas and Anaga Avenue, resembling the entry point to Las Teresitas beach, to provide information regarding the availability of parking spaces at the beach.

Under the agreement established with Kapsch Trafficcom, entailing an investment of 189,000 euros, a scheme aimed at managing traffic and parking at Las Teresitas beach will be executed. The goal is to “enhance the experience for both locals and visitors, diminish congestion, and optimise the use of parking in the vicinity,” as detailed by the City Council in a communication.

As stated by the Council, Las Teresitas Beach frequently encounters traffic complications, particularly during busy periods and favourable weather conditions.

With a capacity to accommodate 1,200 vehicles, the area often sees over 900 cars during peak times, resulting in traffic congestion and impeding access to the beach. Therefore, by employing new technologies, the City Council aims to significantly alleviate this issue, according to the announcement.

From the mobility department, technicians are also striving to enhance the deployment of an application that will allow users to check, via mobile devices and the municipal website, the occupancy status of parking at the beach.

The service concessionaire focused on improving mobility at Las Teresitas beach has indicated that the new system incorporates five cameras that monitor both the entry and exit points of the parking facility, counting vehicles and calculating available spaces in real time. Furthermore, specific sensors have been installed to manage the 120 spots reserved for individuals with disabilities, ensuring equitable and orderly access for all users.
