Valseco Pools Partially Reopen Following Facility Safety Improvements

The City of Santa Cruz de Tenerife via the Public Services Area has announced that the bathing zone of The pools situated on the coast of Valseco has been partially reopened following maintenance work conducted after deficiencies in the facilities were identified on Thursday.

The Council, in a statement, clarified that, in line with the recommendations from the Health and Laboratory Service of the Tenerife Health Area of the Canary Health Service (SCS), this partial reopening will permit access to the bathing area strictly through the central section of the stairs.

During a recent assessment, issues were discovered in the bathing area, which necessitated its temporary closure to implement the necessary improvements.

Among the concerns identified was the need to enhance the lighting in the bathrooms for individuals with special needs, the cleaning and removal of algae at the sea access points, as well as rust treatment on the railings, including the reinforcement and replacement of some sections.

The mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, José Manuel Bermúdez, emphasised that “all the work will be completed in the coming days, but given that a portion of the bathing area has been secured, it has been decided to reopen so that users can continue to utilise these facilities.”

The pools were inaugurated one year ago during an event attended by the President of the Canary Islands Government, Fernando Clavijo, the President of the Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, the mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, the President of the Port Authority, and the Minister of Tourism of the Regional Government, Jessica de León, along with various other officials from CC and the PP.
